Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under increased attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while residents in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and encountered interruptions to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a young boy was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the United States, European nations and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty rockets struck the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the urban area experienced significant strikes during nighttime hours. A young boy died and multiple civilians were injured.

The attacks follow evenings of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the country's energy grid, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were bracing for further attacks.
